What is vectorisation?
Vectorization (aka tracing) is the process of converting a raster image to a vector image.
Raster images are pixel-based, whereas vector images are represented by geometric shapes such as lines, circles and curves.

My eyes were recently drawn to this video of a new technique for resizing images from Dr Ariel Shamir and Shai Avidan of the Efi Arazi School of Computer Science.
This technique can be used for reducing and enlarging images as well as removing items from the image which are not wanted (by manually painting ‘negative weight’ over an area of the image).
